Catalina Jordan Alvarez ('17) is a filmmaker whose independent films draw on local research and are informed by sound studies and theories of gender performativity. She is a recipient of fellowships and residencies from the the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Flaherty Seminar, Flux Factory and the Wexner Center for the Arts. Her films have screened at festivals including Slamdance, New Orleans and Palm Springs, Fantastic Fest, and venues such as the ICA Philadelphia, the San Diego Art Institute, and the Museum of the Moving Image.
Her film "PACO" was featured in Diamond Screen's Best of the Decade Vol.2 compilation.
