Jonas Denzel ('18) is a filmmaker and visual artist with a focus on projection mappings, video installations and documentaries. In 2016 he received a Fulbright scholarship and studied film and media arts at Temple University. Jonas graduated with honors in Germany in 2018 with an MFA in Time-based Media. He worked at the center for art and media (ZKM) Karlsruhe, one of the world's five most important cultural institutions for media art. Inspired by playing the drums his work is often interactive and rhythmically adept. Jonas has created work that refers directly to the environment – not just visually, but also in terms of sound.

Jonas has received several awards including the Art Directors Club Germany, the Contemporary Art Ruhr at UNESCO world heritage site and an award as Best Graduate Film in a documentary at Temple University. In 2019 he won the renown GENIUS LOCI Competition Weimar followed by the WINNER Award for the work beatlights at the international Projection Mapping Festival which was projected at the Palace of the Parlimanet in Bucharest, Rumania.
