Biography
Kaleo Bird is an actor/director/playwright/dialect coach/voice teacher currently living in Philadelphia. She teaches voice, acting and creativity at Temple University. Kaleo has also taught voice and speech at Muhlenberg College and Rider University and acting classes for People’s Light and Theatre Company and Walnut Street Theater. She co-starred in Cold Feet, a play based on interviews with brides-to-be, which she also wrote and directed for the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. Kaleo is the producing artistic director of Deep Sea Theatre, a Philadelphia-based theater company that produces original performance work and re-imagined classics. Her work as a director and playwright has fed Kaleo’s interest in Fitzmaurice Voicework as a means to connect with the text and enable actors' freedom from physical and vocal tension, so they can open themselves to a fuller range of acting possibilities.
