Biography
King Lu is a genre-defying writer/director who seeks to challenge people to reflect on the important things in life. He tells high concept stories about characters coming-of-age as they learn to build meaningful relationships with the people around them. Through his interests in philosophy, social activism, and human behavior, he seeks to share complex stories with easy-to-digest themes.
King studied philosophy and economics at Duke University before concentrating in screenwriting and directing at Columbia University’s Film MFA program. In 2020, he won the HUMANITAS College Drama Fellowship for his screenplay From June to July, an epic about two generations of Chinese Americans finding their way in modern America.
King is an alumnus of the Armed with a Camera Fellowship and the Telluride Student Symposium. His short films have screened at festivals such as LAAPFF, CAAMfest, San Diego Asian Film Festival, Charlotte Film Festival, NY Shorts, Golden Door International Film Festival (winner of "Best Short Film" in 2019), and more.
He is currently in pre-production on his feature film, Shot Clock.
