POSITION: Full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track appointment in Theater, Theater Studies

RANK/SALARY: Assistant Professor appointment in Theater Studies. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach Theater Studies courses, in support of an undergraduate liberal arts program in Theater. Responsibilities could include, but are not limited to, a variety of course offerings in the Theater Department core: “Creativity Basic,” “Introduction to Theater Process,” “World of the Play,” “Theater History One and Two” and “Acting One.” In the General Education curriculum: “From Page to Stage,” “Race on the Stage,” “Art of Acting” and “Classics of African American Theater.” Applicant is expected to mentor and advise Theater Studies students; maintain a visible and active profile of creative research; and engage in appropriate service to the College and the University.

QUALIFICATIONS: With demonstrated interest and commitment to teaching BFA and BA students in Theater Studies, the successful applicant will provide evidence of a completed MFA or MA degree in Theatre, at least 3 years of successful university teaching experience, and scholarly and/or professional accomplishments.

POSITION: Full-time, non-tenure track appointment in the department of Film and Media Arts: Film, Video, Interactive Foundations

RANK/SALARY: Assistant Professor in Film, Video, Interactive Foundations. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The department of Film and Media Arts seeks an experienced Filmmaker preferably with additional producing and/or interactive media skills. The teaching assignment will include, but is not restricted to, undergraduate courses in Film, Video, and Interactive Freshman Foundations. The position will include participation in curriculum development, teaching large foundational lecture classes, and overseeing a series of introductory film production workshop labs taught by graduate teaching assistants. The ideal candidate will be expected to advise and mentor students; maintain a visible profile of creative practice; and engage in appropriate service to the department, the university, and the profession.

QUALIFICATIONS: MFA in Filmmaking and/or a related Film and Media Arts field. The preferred candidate will have expertise in teaching introductory film, video and media arts to Freshman and Transfer students. The candidate will have a strong history of teaching basic film language, introductory mirrorless cameras and 2k Camcorders, and introductory production skills in post-production, sound recording/design, screenwriting, and directing. The candidate will be well versed in basic formal approaches to Narrative Fiction, Documentary, and Experimental Methods. The preferred candidate will have experience partnering with others for Freshman recruiting, advising, and retention practices. The candidate will be required to teach an additional course each semester with preference being in Film Producing and/or Interactive Media Arts.

POSITION: Full-time, non-tenure track appointment in the Department of Film and Media Arts

RANK/SALARY: Assistant Professor in Screenwriting. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The department of Film and Media Arts seeks an accomplished screenwriter whose teaching will ground undergraduate and graduate students in narrative storytelling from a screenwriter's perspective. We are particularly interested in candidates who have a comprehensive knowledge of the theory and craft of writing for the screen. Our department is committed to supporting students in developing their own unique voices as writers, and in creating new narratives that challenge existing and historic approaches to the medium. Courses taught will range from introductory to advanced screenwriting courses, as well as possibly serial formats. The ideal candidate will be expected to advise and mentor students; maintain a visible profile of creative practice; and engage in appropriate service to the department, the university, and the profession. The successful candidate will also be expected to advise undergraduate and graduate students on their thesis screenplays. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should hold an MFA in Screenwriting or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. A strong candidate will have an established career in storytelling, a documented ability to explore formally and culturally diverse perspectives, solid teaching experience, and a clear commitment to creative evolution of the cinematic form through their own and student work. Candidates must have professional screenwriting credits for produced films or television. We welcome expertise in writing for documentary, expanded media or experimental/hybrid film forms as a secondary interest.
