Temple Theater's 2024-2025 Season - Championing New Works!
Temple Theaters is excited to announce our 2024-25 Season, which includes a classic musical, Shakespeare, a pair of more modern plays, AND we're excited to be launching several brand-new pieces in our first ever Season of Championing New Works!
What does a Season of Championing New Works mean?
For the first time in our history, Temple Theaters has a season where over half of our scheduled productions will feature premieres of new work!
Throughout our season we will premiere 4 new works: 2 plays from our MFA Playwrights and 2 from our MFA Abbott Musical Theatre Collaborators. In addition, we’ll continue our over 30-year collaboration with Philadelphia Young Playwrights: New Voices, alongside readings of new work, and the student-run Ben Vargas Short Stuff Festival as part of Temple Theaters Side Stage.
By mounting a season that includes all these opportunities to present new works, students can expect to get hands-on experience in the creative process. They will learn how to approach rewrites, feedback, and get the thrill of originating all the aspects of a brand new production. Plus, new works are unique within collegiate theater as being one of the best ways to meet and forge bonds with creative teams. Many students involved will become part of the next steps in the production process of these pieces.
In all the 2024-2025 Temple Theaters Season includes:
A Chorus Line by James Kirkwood Jr. and Nicholas Dante
If Pretty Hurts Then Ugly Must Be A Muhfucka by Tori Sampson
New Voices Festival (in collaboration with Philadelphia Young Playwrights)
The Tempest by William Shakespeare
Our Country’s Good by Timberlake Wertenbaker
As well as 4 world-premiere works from our MFA students with titles yet to be confirmed!
We look forward to welcoming audiences throughout the academic year to our productions -- Head to our ticketing website for more information, show dates, and to reserve your ticket today!
